Contributions to the Research Project v2

1. I proposed the Rainwater Harvesting Idea to the team.

2.  I organized a group meeting to discuss and research rainwater harvesting in Singapore to further explore this concept,

3. For the technical report, I formed its structure and facilitated a separate group meeting to gather input.

4. I contributed in crafting clear and focused problem and purpose statements for our research.

5. Through extensive research using Google and Google Scholar, I discovered that PUB is seeking  innovative ideas and technologies aimed at promoting sustainability within the non-domestic sector. Furthermore, the research revealed a gap in water-saving techniques specifically designed for the non-domestic sector.

6. I ensured the technical report adhered to APA7 formatting guidelines, including in-text citations, reference lists, figure titles, and appendices.

This quote suggests that even when engineers simplify their work to the general public and the efforts to break it down, the technical aspects remain a difficulty for public understanding. The technical details, even when simplified, might be too much for a non-technical audience to grasp. Having experienced this first-hand. The way to tackle this challenge is not to just break it down into simpler understanding. It is much more efficient to use analogies in their daily lives for the public to understand better. It is solely up to the engineers how imaginative they are to make the public understand via analogies.

Summary Reader Response draft 1

According to Harding,(2017), Mixshield is a slurry tunnel boring machine (TBM) that uses an air bubble to control and support pressure at the face made by Herrenknecht. This is further explained by Herrenknecht. The TBM has an automatic air cushion that precisely controls the face support pressure in the excavation chamber (Herrenknecht,2024). It also offers an array of powerful cutting tools such as cutting knives and disc cutters. It is enhanced by jawcrushers positioned in front of the intake screen to further breakdown boulders and stones into conveyable size pieces (Herrenknecht, 2024).
